Dear clients,
The National Environmental Council (CONAMA) has opened a public consultation on the proposed resolution that establishes restrictions on the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment sold in Brazil — the so-called Brazilian RoHS.
Consultation period: August 11 to September 24, 2025
Link to participate: Brazilian RoHS Public Consultation
This proposal aims to align Brazil with international best practices, such as the European RoHS directive, and seeks to:
- Reduce the use of 10 hazardous chemical substances, including mercury, PBB, and PBDE
- Promote environmentally sound disposal of electronic products
- Protect human health and the environment
- Establish labeling, technical documentation, and declaration of conformity requirements for manufacturers and importers
The regulation will impact several sectors, including appliances, toys, medical devices, lighting, telecommunications, and more.
